Cycling activists Critical Mass Australia have a great
article on how not to get hit by cars.

Most of the cyclists I see from day to day put their lives at risks by riding dangerously. And no, it's nothing to do with helmets. If you cycle, read it.

A lot of it is about visibility - lurking in the gutter or riding on the footpath puts you outside the space where motorists are looking - "sorry mate, I didn't see you."

I read a something recently about the four 'invisible' vehicles that motorists have trouble seeing: bicycles, motorbikes, semi-trailers and trains. :-)
